Today is just one of those days here in Houston. A good day to stay in your pajamas, turn on a great movie or grab a great book, and lounge on the couch. At least, that’s what rainy days make me feel like doing! Instead, I opted to grab my camera and take a few pictures of my pups. You see, last night my husband and I watched Marley and Me. Since I read the book several years ago, I knew exactly what I was in for but watched it anyway. Being a huge animal lover, this movie (and even more so the book) brought tears to my eyes but really made me appreciate my dogs for what they are: part of the family. After watching the movie, I realized it has been too many months since I took a few shots of my four-legged boys, so despite the clouds and rain, I chose to do so today.
If you’re like me, a lover of all things furry…well, maybe not all things because I’m fairly certain there are a few species of spider that are furry…Marley and Me would be a good rental. However, having now seen the movie and read the book, I will say the book is much better. Isn’t that always the case?!
Since this is their first official appearance on my blog (and definitely not their last), meet Maddux and Jackson.
This is Maddux…better known as “the big one” because he is, in fact, big. 138 pounds of big to be exact. This is the face he gave me when I asked why he was laying down in the soaking wet grass while it was raining! This also happens to be one of the only pictures I have of him with his tongue in his mouth 🙂
This is Jackson. He hates storms so this is his “why are you making me sit outside with you when I want to be inside?!” face.
This is my first attempt at getting some Erin Vey style photographs of my dogs. If you’re a dog lover and have never checked out her work, you should. She is a fabulous photographer in Seattle and the more I look at her work, the more I am inspired to get ‘outside the box’ shots of my dogs.
This last one just reminds me how big Maddux truly is. I think my husband and I both have become desensitized to just how big he really is because we’re around him all the time. Maddux’s wet paw is on the left and Jackson’s is right next to it on the right!

I attempted my own “Erin Vey” photography about a week ago! Loved seeing you share your take on it. It’s nice to see Maddux and Jackson again. 🙂

Oh those beautiful faces! How sweet. Great photos, daughter. Dad and I were just talking to Jeff and Arlene about your dogs and how they “both” consider themselves lapdogs. We just love when Maddux sits on the recliner with you. You need a picture of that on your blog for all to see just how big he really is.

If you ever need to practice on another dog besides your two cuties, I know of a very photogenic cutie! 🙂

They are beautiful! I can’t wait until you do mine. :0) Nathan and Erica’s pictures turned out great and all because of you.

hahaha! I posted on the wrong blog post.
The Pup’s pictures are so cute. These two dogs have been your “kids” for awhile now and I couldn’t imagen your and Jeff’s life without them. Can’t wait ’til the next post. :0)
